Biographical sketch

Antonio Fernández was born in Vigo, Spain, in 1967. He graduated as an Industrial Engineer (equivalent to a MEng degree) in 1993 from the University of Vigo. He joined the Applied Physics department at University of Vigo in 1993, obtaining his PhD in 1998 with a thesis entitled "Development of pulsed TV-holography techniques for the analysis of transient wave propagation in mechanical parts". In 1999 he was appointed as an Associate Lecturer by the Engineering Design department, University of Vigo. Now a Senior Lecturer, he teaches Engineering Graphics, Computer Programming using Python, and Image Processing at the School of Industrial Engineering. His research interests include computer vision, image processing and pattern recognition, with a special focus on texture analysis.
